Latest News

We are excited to announce that after months of research, a list of nonprofits active in Antrim County is now available here on our website. This resource will serve as a great starting point for 100 Women Who Care - Elk Rapids Area members who want to learn more about specific nonprofits, and possibly nominate them for one of our collective gifts.

Because we couldn't locate an existing list with accurate or current information, this compilation was no small feat. Five volunteers spent countless hours researching nonprofits and verifying basic information. We want to give a big shout out to our "Nonprofit Navigators "Mindy Gallagher, Colleen Osantowski, Pauline Pasch, Maryann Schmidt, and Peg Whisler. Thank you, ladies!

We encourage you to check out the Antrim County Nonprofits List (The link will take you to our Member Resources Page). We're confident that you'll find organizations doing work that fit your passions and interests. The time is right to begin thinking about how YOU can make a difference by nominating a nonprofit for our May 30 meeting.

If you have any questions, please contact Peg Asmus at

We are thrilled to share updates on two recipients of our

100 Women Who Care - Elk Rapids Area's collective donation. Because of our support, Sunrise Academy and Dolly Parton's Imagination Library - GTR are changing lives here in Antrim County. Read on for progress on both projects and ways we can continue to assist in their important efforts.

Sunrise Academy's The Elk Den Awarded Michigan CEC'S 2024 Entrepreneural Classroom Award

The Elk Den, the school store run by Sunrise Academy students, has been awarded the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children's (CEC) 2024 Entrepreneurial Classroom award!  The CEC recognized The Elk Den for its' innovative vision and dedication to creating real-world learning opportunities which truly set them apart.

Sunrise Academy Leader Teacher Shauna Phillips said "I felt the need to share this news with 100 Women Who Care - Elk Rapids Area, as we would not have been able to win this award without your support. So again, thank you for believing in us and supporting us."

As a part of this award, Sunrise Academy students have been invited to attend the CEC conference in Grand Rapids at the end of this month. Here, the students will set up a booth and they will also be recognized at a formal dinner.

Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is up and running in Antrim County

We recently heard from Bob Robbins, Chairperson of Books from Birth, the initiative that is working to bring Dolly Parton Imagination Library to all five counties in the Grand Traverse Region. Because of the support of 100 Women Who Care - Elk Rapids Area, all children ages 0-5 years old in Antrim County are finally able to participate. Click the button below to read their newsletter and learn more about their progress so far.

We can help spread the word and encourage enrollment by sharing the QR code below with young families so ALL children ages 0-5 years old living in Antrim County can receive a free new, high quality, age-appropriate book each month. It only takes about 5 minutes to enroll. You can also stop by the Elk Rapids Library to pick up flyers and cards with the QR code.

Let's continue to make a difference!
